Let us keep close together, not far apart.
The partnership between whānau and school remains at the very centre of what we are trying to achieve. Supporting learners both in and out of school time is central to the development of key academic abilities and brings a very strong chance of accelerated progress.
As part of connecting with whānau about the Manaiakalani Outreach Programme, we hosted an evening event at Gisborne Intermediate on 8 May.
Dorothy Burt, the programme leader presented to gathered whānau and principals about the why and what of the Manaiakalani Programme.
We shared with whānau what we are doing in classes as we model ‘Learn, Create, Share’ as well as the across-schools mahi with teachers and school leaders learning together. We had time for questions.
While the number of attendees was small we had positive feedback from those who were present.
